It has been a year since the beautiful and spirited journey of the wild unfolding of this sacred ceremony.

When I first was called upon to cocreate the floral offering for the wedding it was just going to be a small gathering in the living room of the Bergen house. We went back and forth on the impossible strategy of how to tetrus everyone in comfortably. Then enter Josh Mailman to contribute his 2 cents. He matter of factly announced that it was would be impossible. He promptly offered to host the gathering at his place and the event expanded from a casual gathering to honor the union of Vaughn and Kayla into a full blown wedding.

After a whirlwind 2 days of sourcing flowers vases and branches, visiting the Mailmans with the wedding planner and mapping out tables and timelines, getting COI’s and convincing my son Fabian to help out , the day arrived. Paulette and Fabian spun magic in the vases and we were just finishing the chuppah minutes before guests started to arrive. I didn’t have time to contemplate what the experience was actually going to be like. It was a beautiful surprise. As the room began to fill with family and friends a palpable feeling of authenticity and warm spiritedness arose. Everyone was there in such a heartfelt grounded loving way.

The ceremony it self was simple and charming. It was like Kayla and Vaughn, both deep and kind. The usual pomp and circumstance was replaced with judgement free playful reverence as they danced around each other spiralling into to their mutual devotion in the most natural way. The Speeches, the dinner conversation, the cake decorating all carried this same heartfelt sense of safety love and belonging even as the evening wound down to spontaneous singing and dancing. The whole gesture of the wedding was one of Joy. And I have to say in all honesty this may be my favorite wedding that I have ever witnessed.

So grateful to have been there and participated. To see how spontaneous magic held in so many loving earnest hands and hearts can create a majestic portal from humble collaboration.
